Good Morning, Everyone!
As we prepare for the 5v5 tournament this coming Monday, December 22, there are some updates that I would like to share with you (and please share them with your teams!). We have 27 teams signed up and will need for Monday to run efficiently in order for everyone to get their games in and have a good time while doing so, which means that you will need to pay attention to everything in this email. Here are some key points...
1. Please have your teams show up and claim a table in the cafeteria by 8am. We want to start with directions at about 8:10 so we can promptly start games at 8:30.
2. Teams will need to be waiting outside of their gyms five minutes before the start of their games, because they will need to start immediately after the other teams finish playing. The games are in twenty minute time-slots, so the longer it takes to set up, the shorter the game will be.
3. Subs can come in "on-the-fly" as long as the person they are subbing for has already exited the field in the team-specific sub area.
4. All students must stay in the cafeteria area throughout the day, on the track to watch games, or be outside. They will not be allowed to wander the halls, nor go into the wrestling or weight rooms.
5. The only place that students can play with (juggle, dribble, pass) a soccer ball will be on the court in the gym.
6. Please make sure that your area of the cafeteria is cleaned up, and please put the tables up and stack chairs at the end of the day. This will help us greatly!
7. Feel free to bring activities to play / do throughout the day while not on the court (board games, coloring, HOMEWORK?, etc.) since there will be quite a bit of down time. You can also feel free to bring snacks and such. There will be NO CONCESSIONS AVAILABLE. If you will want to eat / drink, you will need to bring your own food / drinks.
8. Please read all of the rules attached, as your team should know these rules going into the day.
9. This is meant to be a fun fundraiser for our high school soccer programs. It is not meant to be incredibly competitive nor for it to lead to disagreements, etc. Please keep a FUN spirit about the games / tournament.
10. The first team listed in each matchup will be responsible for wearing blue pinnies. Please plan on wearing similar colors as teammates. It will help to have your team in the same color.
11. Be aware that there is NO TRAINER on duty. You are playing at your own risk and the risks are those of any sport where there is some contact between individuals. If you are not okay with this, you should not be playing in this tournament.
12. There will be brackets available at the actual event. At the moment, just take note of when your team will be playing in the basic rounds and then when your level will be playing (EL = elementary (4-5), MS = Middle School (6-8), HS = High School (9-12)) because you could possibly be in one of those games. It might not make sense until you see the brackets, but you will see them on Monday and I believe it will make more sense.
13. Have fun and enjoy spending the day amongst friends:)
Let me know if there are any other questions / comments!
